Mumbai: Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi, who has always been known for his controversial statements and outspoken nature, once again made the news for comparing two great international captains – MS Dhoni and Ricky Ponting. The 45-year-old, this time pipped the Indian star ahead of the Australian legend.
“I rate Dhoni a bit higher than Ponting as he developed a new team full of youngsters,” Afridi wrote in response.

Factually, Dhoni achieved World Cup glory in 2011 with a team which had most of its established greats. In 2007, however, Dhoni’s T20 World Cup success comprised a team without stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and so on.
Ponting too, had taken over a pretty well-balanced side from Stevewaugh and went on to establish Australian dominance in world cricket winning successive World Cup titles in 2003 and 2007.
Afridi, recently had fans turned enraged after he had commented that the legendary Sachin Tendulkar was afraid of Pakistan’s pace bowling great, Shoaib Akhtar.
“Dekhiye Sachin Tendulkar aapne muh se toh nahi kahega ki main dar raha hu (Sachin obviously won’t say it himself that he was scared). There were some spells from Shoaib Akhtar in which not only Sachin but some of the world’s best also got shaken up,” he said.
