Priest, Policemen At Ram Temple Test Positive For COVID-19

Ayodhya: A priest along with fifteen other policemen at Ayodhya Ram temple site were tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday.

The policemen who were on duty at the spot where the boomi poojan (groundbreaking ceremony) will be held on August 5.

It is said that 11 priests from Varanasi have been invited to perform the ceremony scheduled next week. The priest who was tested positive named Pradip Das, is not among the priests the group which will perform the pooja.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust said that the policemen who tested positive for coronavirus were indulged in their security duties at the complex of the Ram Janmabhoomi. The other four policemen were on their permanent duty inside the complex and the rest of them took turns accordingly.

Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, the chairman of the trust, said there is nothing to get worried about. One of the priests who perform daily ‘pooja’ has been tested positive for coronavirus. The whole area will be sanitised on a daily basis.

The general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, has requested to watch the live telecast of the bhoomi poojan from their homes on television and also light up earthen lamps or ‘diyas‘ in the evening.

The temple trust has also urged to all the priests and saints across the country to start the puja in their own temples and Maths on August 5, between 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be attending the ceremony on August 5.

Also, last week chief minister Yogi Adityanath also visited Ayodhya and inspected the preparation at the Ram Janbhoomi complex for the event.

Swami Govind Giri, the treasurer of the trust said that almost 200 guests have been invited for the grand event. Various leaders, as well as chief minister from different states, have also been invited to the event.

The grand event will take place for three days. The event will start from August 3 and will end on August 5 with the ‘bhoomi poojan‘.

A member of trust also said that veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Lal Krishna Advani with other several renowned leaders will be present during the ceremony.

The trust has already declared that they will take care of every precaution keeping the pandemic in mind. Presently, Ayodhya has a total number of 375 active cases and in the state, Uttar Pradesh has 29,997 cases of coronavirus.
