Pressurised To Record Statements Against Rhea: Siddharth Pithani

New Delhi: A friend of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Siddharth Pithani has reportedly written an email to Mumbai police claiming that he is being pressurised by the actor’s family to give a statement against Rhea Chakraborty. The 28-year-old actress has been accused by the Sushant’s father of ‘abetment of suicide,’ among other charges.

Pithani, in his email to Mumbai police said, “I received conference calls from the family of Sushant Singh Rajput. Mr OP Singh, Meetu Singh and an unknown number on July 22 and they asked me questions regarding Rhea Chakraborty and her expenses during her stay at Mount Blanc with Sushant.”

In the email, the mutual friend of both the actors alleges that he received at least three calls on July 28 from the late actor’s family asking him to give a statement against Chakraborty about her expenses, when she was in a live-in relationship with Sushant. He also stated that he is being asked to say on an issue he wasn’t aware of.

“I was told I would receive a phone call. I got a call from an unknown WhatsApp number, but it ended within 40 seconds, and no statement was recorded,” he said in the email. “I am pressurised to comply and record statements against Rhea, the things which I am not aware of,” the email added.

The email was later used in the petition filed by Rhea to transfer the FIR to Mumbai with Supreme Court.

She alleged that there cannot be an “impartial investigation” in Bihar for the case and so she sought transfer of probe in the FIR to Mumbai. “In Bihar, there cannot be an impartial investigation and thereby she seeks transfer of probe in the FIR registered in Bihar to Mumbai,” she stated in her petition.

She also added and claimed in the petition that Sushant was suffering from depression for some time and was also on anti-depressants. “He committed suicide on the morning of June 14, 2020, at his Bandra residence by hanging himself,” read the petition.

Earlier, the late actor’s former girlfriend Ankita Lokhande said, “Sushant was not the guy who could commit suicide. We have seen worse situations when we were together. He was a happy-go-lucky guy.”

She added, “How much ever I know him, he wasn’t a depressed guy. I have not seen a person like Sushant, a guy who used to write his own dreams, he had a diary… He had his 5-year plan — what he wants to do, how he will look, etc. And exactly after 5 years, he had fulfilled them. And when things like ‘depression’ are used after his name… it is heartbreaking. He might be upset, anxious, yes, but depression is a big word. Calling someone ‘bipolar’ is a big thing,” as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Ankita and Sushant met on the sets of their popular television show Pavitra Rishta and were in a relationship for six years until 2016.

She further said, “He found happiness in small things. He wanted to do farming, I know this for sure… he told me agar kuch nai hua to main apni short film bana lunga (if nothing else works out, I will make a short film). He was not a depressed guy, not at all. I don’t know what the situation was… but I will keep repeating this. I don’t want people to remember him as a depressed guy, he was a hero. He was an inspiration.”

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment, on June 14.
